Cardiac Consultation
A Cardiac Consultation is a detailed evaluation performed by a cardiologist (heart specialist) to assess your heart health, diagnose heart-related problems, and plan appropriate treatment.
What Happens During a Cardiac Consultation?
1. Medical History Review
The cardiologist asks about:
• Symptoms (chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness)
• Past illnesses (diabetes, hypertension)
• Family history of heart disease
• Lifestyle factors (smoking, alcohol, stress, physical activity)
• Current medications
2. Physical Examination
This includes:
• Checking blood pressure
• Listening to the heart and lungs
• Assessing pulse
• Detecting swelling in legs (edema)
• Checking oxygen levels
3. Diagnostic Tests (as needed)
Depending on symptoms, the doctor may recommend:
• ECG (Electrocardiography)
• 2D Echocardiography
• Treadmill Test (TMT)
• Blood tests (cholesterol, sugar, cardiac markers)
• Chest X-ray
• Holter monitoring
• CT Coronary Angiography or Conventional Angiography
4. Diagnosis
The cardiologist analyzes all information to identify:
• Coronary artery disease
• Hypertension-related changes
• Heart failure
• Valve problems
• Arrhythmias
• Cardiomyopathies
5. Treatment Plan
Based on findings, the doctor may advise:
• Medications (for BP, cholesterol, rhythm control, etc.)
